Honing Machine Types and Selection Principles
Honing machines can be divided into horizontal and vertical types. The following principles should be considered when selecting a honing machine:1. Choose different types of honing machines for different batch sizes. For example,for small batches of multiple products, choose a low-power, versatile machine. For large batches, choose a high-power, specialized machine.
2. Select the machine's key specifications and parameters based on the workpiece hole diameter, hole length, and overall dimensions.
3. Select the performance of the machine's reciprocating mechanism based on the hole structure. For blind holes, the reciprocating mechanism requires high reversing repeatability and minimal overtravel, and should be able to accommodate manual or automatic alternating long and short strokes. For short holes, where high hole accuracy is required, choose a mechanical reciprocating mechanism.
4. Select the expansion feed method of the oilstone expansion and contraction mechanism based on the hole machining allowance, shape error, and hole accuracy requirements. 5. Select the number of spindles or machine units, as well as the type of worktable, based on the number of times the same hole needs to be honed, the production batch size or cycle time, the workpiece dimensions, and the number of holes to be machined. For large quantities of small parts, a vertical multi-axis machine with a rotating table can be used. For large or linearly arranged workpieces with multiple holes, a machine with a movable table or a moving honing head can be used. For small batches, a single spindle machine can be used. For large batches, a multi-axis machine can be used, allowing for multiple honing of a single hole or simultaneous honing of several holes.
6. Select the dimensional control method based on the hole's dimensional accuracy, hole size, structure, wear resistance of the oilstone, honing head structure, and production batch size.
7. Select the cutting fluid purification method and whether a cooling system is required based on the hole's surface roughness, dimensional accuracy, and cycle time requirements.
